BRIEF

The Department of Business Administration (BA) was established in 1993 as the first department under Yuan Ze University College of Management. Despite its young age relative to its counterparts in other universities, the Department is ranked among the top BA departments in Taiwan according to a recent public survey. The Department currently consists of 20 faculty members with solid backgrounds in various management areas, more than 500 undergraduate students, and 55 graduate students. The Department offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The minimum credit hours required for the BBA degree is 128 hours while 36 hours are required for the MBA, which include 36 course credits, 12 seminar credits, and a master thesis.
Our faculty aims to provide students with balanced training in technical skills, specialized information, and practical knowledge in managerial decision-making processes. Course offering covers not only professional training in such areas as operations, marketing, human resources, technology management, and finance, but also in computers, foreign languages, and the humanities. The Department’s main objective is to produce business professionals who can integrate theory and problem-solving abilities. The Department currently offers four undergraduate programs:

1

In addition, the Department offers four graduate programs:

Excellence in research and dedication to teaching and providing services to the university community are the missions of the Department. The Department focuses on establishing domain know-how and expertise by integrating various management disciplines to create values in both business applications and academics. At this moment, a number of projects are being conducted in 3C, financial service, health care, and retailing industries. Furthermore, a three-year project sponsored by the National Science Council on e-business management and paradigms and a four-year project sponsored by the Ministry of Education on improving students’ communication and analytic skills are currently underway. It is our goal to maintain the BA Department at YZU as one of the best among all BA departments in Taiwan and in Asia.
